Jazz Concert at 2:00 p.m., Saturday October 13th, at the Pearl Street Gallery
Paintings and photographs of Chelsea also on display.
The Pearl Street Gallery, 100 Pearl St., Chelsea MA, will be hosting a jazz concert at 2 pm on Saturday, October 13, featuring a Special Edition of the Russ Gershon Trio. Mr. Gershon is a Grammy nominated arranger and saxophonist, the founder and leader of the five time Boston Music Award winning Either/Orchestra and several other notable bands. He is joined by Berklee professor Rick McLaughlin on bass and top Boston drummer Luther Grey. The performance is free of charge. All ages are welcome.
A pillar of Boston’s jazz, rock and Latin music scenes since 1980, Mr. Gershon has toured the US, Europe and Africa and played with headliners like Cab Calloway, the Four Tops, Morphine and Medeski Martin & Wood. He is also deeply involved with Ethiopian music and has performed with its very top practitioners Mulatu Astatke and Mahmoud Ahmed. Mr. Gershon has played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Chicago Jazz Festival and equally important venues in London, Paris, Milan, Montreal and numerous other cities. In this performance, he will play tenor, alto and soprano saxophones along with flute and occasional vocals.
The Trio’s program will range from Gershon’s original compositions to jazz tunes by his influences and inspirations from Duke Ellington to the less well known Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Clifford Jordan. The group also ventures into the pop songbook with songs associated with acts like the Monkees.
Bassist Rick McLaughlin arrived in Boston from Des Moines Iowa to study at Berklee College and New England Conservatory in 1990, and has taught at both institutions, including his current Berklee course, “The Music of Stevie Wonder.” He is a twenty one year member of Gershon’s Either/Orchestra.
Drummer Luther Grey grew up on the Washington DC punk scene and has evolved into one of the top drummers in Boston, playing with the most esteemed players such as Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone and the Fully Celebrated Orchestra.
The Pearl Street Gallery is located at 100 Pearl Street, Chelsea MA 02150.

Three artists approach their subjects through a process of scrutiny and investigation, and help us see things we would not have seen if they had not taken the time to show us. We are enriched by their study, and sojourners with them on their quest. Read more below
Unscene
Unscene – A scene that was seen, but not. The three bodies of work in this show, Unchartered Constellations, The Intimacy of Distance, and Terra Novus (New Land), all are depicting things that are there and not there at the same time.
Jane Yudelman, in Unchartered Constellations, has made space-scapes out of problematic spectral highlights that presented while photographing snow. What we get, instead, are galaxies where our imagination can go and contemplate what is and what could be.
Greg Albertson’s series, The Intimacy of Distance, is made of ethereal landscapes taking us somewhere between earth and the moon, between here and there. In his images, made from stacked-focused shots of bark, we can go to places unknown, places we might begin to recognize from our dreams, and if we use all our senses, we might be aware of stardust echoing back our journey from places where we might have come.
Amy Rindskopf’s series, Terra Novus (New Land), tethers us right here to Mother Earth. Her images draw us in to the plants that nurture us, the fruits that feeds us. Her landscapes undulate from the kitchen table and take us to places where we can contemplate the earth and the sun, and give thanks for the harvests that keep us strong.

The Tobin Art Wall
The Tobin Art Wall is a public art project developed by Joe Greene, The Pearl Street Gallery and The Chelsea Art Walk. We are thrilled to have Internationally known artist
and author Caleb Neelon here, donating his time and talent! You can enjoy more of Calebs beautiful work, gracing the walls of the Jordan Boys and Girls Club.
Artist and author Caleb Neelon (SONIK) began his graffiti career like anyone else, but the Cambridge, Massachusetts native took a hard right and caught a flight out
of town. Deliberately ignoring the obvious global centers of New York, Los Angeles and London, Caleb painted subject matter close to his heart while making a street
presence in places like Kathmandu, Sao Paulo, and Tegucigalpa. Across, around and in between five continents, indoors and out, Caleb has pulled off some unique,
colorful and heartfelt work both alongside collaborators like Os Gemeos and Andrew Schoultz, as well as in streets where he is the first foreigner let alone street
painter to wander in quite some time.
